Trunk won’t close all the way?

Asked by Stefan May 20, 2019 at 09:03 AM about the 1983 Cadillac DeVille Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The trunk won’t close all the way and it makes a
buzzing sound and goes down as if it’s going to
close but then starts coming back. Just wanted to
know what can cause it, I see the piece of really
thin metal that appears to be bent, wanted to
know if this will cause anything to not work or
would it be something else?

Look around several dealers. GM used the same switch for many models across many years and I believe the switch is sold as a separate part. I bought several for a 1993 DeVille I had without replacing the motor.
