that'd be the one closest to the radiator (for a conventional) and the furthest away from the starter on a transverse mounted FWD (like the MIni)~

firing order 1-3-4-2....on TDC you might be on the intake stroke, or on the power stroke....if we are replacing timing gear...?~

how are you sure it's the number one cylinder? a valve tappet clicky-knock, or a pound pound plup plup you can feel with your legs type? ....almost like an ex-wife unscrewed a sparkplug and dropped a small bolt in and buttoned it up as if nothing happened just to make life difficult for you....at least it wasn't sugar in the gas tank~!
it's the one closest to the belt and accessories. it's 1,2,3,4. 4 being on drivers side of car (rear of engine).
2 Nissan Sentra 1.8 my check engine light keeps coming on I keep replacing Parts but it keeps check engine light keeps coming on I replace the parts and something else goes wrong I replace that part but now it's missing a number for its not firing
