I have a 2004 Nissan Xterra want start

I have a 2004 Nissan Xterra, while driving one day, it just cut off and would not start back up, had it towed home and was told that the timing belt popped off, had the timing belt replace but still will not crank now the guy is saying that the chamber is not holding compression, what does that mean?

That means you have bent valves. That is a interference engine so when the timing belt broke, the valves hit the pistons and are bent.

It is fixable, but is going to cost a lot of money. May just want to consider getting a new engine, if there is a lot of miles on this one with the blown timing belt.
