If the battery light is on while the engine is running, the battery is not being re-charged. Could be failed/weak alternator. To find out why your CEL is on get an OBD scan at a large parts house, they will give you a code P followed by four numbers. bring the codes back here or got to OBDcodes.com and look for cause and fix

PS usually a blinking CEL is indicative of a more serious fault than a steady light. I suggest getting the scan post haste
