Temature gauge slowly moves to hot

Asked by Guru6QBTC Mar 26, 2020 at 05:43 PM about the 2002 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently bought a 2002 Nissan Altima. I just had
my catalytic converter punched out, head gasket
replaced and new spark plugs put in.But now the
temperature gauge moves slowly to hot,but there
is no smoke and all fluids are leveled. When I turn
on the heat, the gauge comes back down to the
half way mark. What could be my problem?

Clogged radiator, bad radiator fan, bad thermostat, bad water pump--all the usual suspects.

Check the radiator cooling fans. Make sure they're coming on. Hope that helps! Jim
