Broken key

My key broke in the ignition but if I stick the other
part in it still starts should I just keep doing that or
get it fixed it’s an old car and I don’t want to spend
unnecessary money

I would fix it as eventually it will strand you.

If you don't fix it that means anybody and everyone can use a small flat head screwdriver to start and steal your car and go Rob a bank or store with it and guess who gets the blame if someone writes your plate number down and we know who the registered owner is. So go get it fixed
