1999 Nissan Frontier Power Issue

Asked by M Aug 29, 2021 at 06:30 AM about the 1999 Nissan Frontier 2 Dr SE 4WD Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1999 Nissan Frontier, usually it runs great, however over the past few
days it hasn't started. It seems like it's not getting enough power to the engine
to turn it over. Also, the lights dim when I go to turn it over. However, this isn't a
battery issue. I've tested the voltage on the bettery and it's holding steady at
12V. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

test bat. voltage when you try to start it , if it drops below 10 volts then the batt. should be replaced , if good test for voltage drop between batt. + and starter when trying to start , 1.5 max .. Static batt. voltage should be a little more than 12 V ( 12.5 ) . Around 14 when running shows good alternator .

12.0 volts is weak. You should see around 12.6 for a full charged battery.
