Anybody know what anniversary was being honored on the 97 t-bird?

I have a 97 Anniversary Edition 1997 Thunderbird. What anniversary was Ford honoring? The first Model T? It would be 42 years since the '55, so I don't think that was it. Anybody know how many of these were made? Its black with gold around the bottom and gold interior with the thunderbird emblem stitched into the seat backs.

I think it was 40 years since the 1957 T-Bird, which was the model that really took off in the early T-Bird years. I have not seen any information on how many of these were made, you might check out one of the Thunderbird forums online, someone there should be able to assist you with production number information.
