Hybrid don’t go to sleep when I stop

I don't know much about hybrids but my understanding is that the gasoline engine runs whenever the battery is low. So if it doesn't sleep, it might be recharging. These older hybrids might be due for a new battery too, as the original's life expectancy is only ten years.
