If it is overheating while idle, check the fan that sits in front of the car. It should be off until the engine reaches operating temperature and on afterwards to pull air through the car as though it is moving. If it is just randomly overheating, check the radiator, water pump, and overflow tank. Also check to make sure that there is no debris in your antifreeze. If your car needs an oil change, go do that as well. If none of this works, I'd get it looked at by a professional. The BMW that I used to drive around overheated all the time, because it was older and these parts just started to fail. It just so happened that it was a 1998 model too. Hope this helps.

Ive replaced my spark plug wires and ive done an oil change n drained my radiator. What happened is when i changed my spark plugs and wires my value cover gasket needed to be changed and my spark plus wire had been pulled to hard I needed to replace the wires again I noticed my spark plugs looked a lil burnt/rusted. Maybe I should replace my spark plugs again..
