your driving style (hard on the gas and breaks aswell as high speed uses more fuel), its size (big, unaerodynamic vehicles use more fuel), tire pressure (under inflated tires cause more friction with the road using fuel), engine size (a V8 uses more fuel than a V6), lower quality fuel doesnt have as good fuel economy, age (older engines wear down and use more fuel), deposits in the engine ( mess with the fuel to air ratio also causing a loss of power). the on board computer settings
