Asked by David Aug 30, 2008 at 06:58 PM about the 1997 Nissan Altima GXE (1997.5)

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Yes it is an EXE. The engine light is on but when it first came on it went off then returned months later. We replaced plugs, plug wires and distributor cap. Still the light is on. I took to Autozone and they plugged it into their computer which said Engine compression sensor error. Someone told me that this could be a cheap fix. Still I have a rough running engine and uses more gas. Help please. Is this an expensive fix?

lol....i work at autozone and i drive nissans....i have seen this code before...if its got something to do with the compression before you buy another sensor...try using engine restorer for 4 cylinder engines...or something more specific i cant remember the name of it but it restores engine compression...its in a silver can with orange triangle designs on it
