Brake light and battery light stay on while driving

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 97 Nissan Sentra
with 154k miles and the
battery light and brake light
stay on while driving. A
couple weeks ago the car
would die out and the abs
light came on and I would let
off the accelerator and the
car would snap back. I never
had to re start my car it
would just stall out and as I
let off the accelerator it
would come back. But now
it's just those lights that
come on. And some times
only when I accelerate and
the second I let off the gas
they go off. I have changed
the belts, filters, what could I
do? It's it my alternator?

Is your parking brake on?

of course my parking brake is off it has nothing to do with my breaks.
First and best thing to do when a light is on that souldn't be, plug an OBD II code reader and get the codes. It may be the alternator. On some cars the 2 lights are on at the same time when it is failing. It may also be because of a short circuit somewhere. In this case, you'll have to follow the 2 wires to find where they are touching.
Once you start your car , disconnect battery cables and measure voltage coming from your cables .should read 14volt,if less then is alternator
I have a 1997 Nissan Sentra when I cut the AC on the battery light and the brake light come on when I turn it off the brake light and go away
Did anyone ever find the issue to this problem I have 05 Altima 2.5 brake and battery light come on and car loses acceleration but doesn’t die once I drop rpms I’m able to accelerate again but it quickly comes back and loses power has new alternator, battery, plugs.coils it’s driving me insane also no check engine codes and the lights don’t persist they only come in during driving
Its the alternator most likely

I had this same problem! Come to find out on the brake pedal there is a small plastic cap that goes through the break pedal pushing a small push button switch. You can wrap tape around the break pedal arm enough to make it push that switch. Hope this helps!
