96 Nissan sentra won't start! - Will MAF sensor cause no start at all? . please help

Hey everyone.  my 96  sentra 1.6  was
running good and then just turned off at
stop light and would not  start back up. I  
did all the  most common things first.  
checked for  fuel and spark and I have both.  
checked the  code and it says Maf  sensor
is bad. I  took it apart and used the maf  
cleaner  and put it back no  change.  car
cranks perfect  but  doesn't even try to turn
over. I  thought maybe crank position
sensor  but it should have thrown a code
right? I  need help please. I  don't really
wanna start wasting Money  on  parts I
don't need so I wanted to ask for help first.
any ideas are greatly appreciated.

mas airflow sensor will not prevent your car from starting. as crazy as this sounds change your distributor. these cars are known for getting oil and gunk inside the distributor and because they use a stupid cam sensor design the computer doesn't know when to fire what cylinder and when to put fuel to what cylinder. you can still get spark with a bad distributor you need to ensure that you are getting spark to all cylinders. if you would like you can try and clean it and it will probably run but not the greatest and not for long. im 99% sure that is exactly what is going on. i recommend installing a new distributor. keep me informed of your results.

okay sounds good thank you for your response. I have read about this problem on a few websites. distributor is about $300 so that's why I wanted to get someone's opinion first. but I'll try that and let you know
