I'm new to the Nissan scene, and have done nothing to my 08 Altima, but drive it thru our terrible weather here in Canada... So that being said to my knowledge prior to nissan, dealing with Honda's (what I used to drive) or Dodge vechiles (Where I worked... yuck!) It sounds like something is wrong with your throttle body cable. If you can pop the hood and press the throttle body, and the motor will rev, your cable is done. Take it to nissan, order the part and get them to replace it, as I assume it will be a pain in your ass.
