my 1995 nissan altima wont start

nothing happens when you turn the switch there is no clicking noise or anything, the lights work and are not dim, the radio works.checked the battry cables and they are tight. tried starting in nuetral

Alternator may be shot. Try getting it jumped. If it runs and then won't start again your alternator isn't holding a good charge.
