Should be stamp on block. Is it already had a new motor. I have a 78 now lol 2nd owner and still has original 6 cylinder and crying for her 383. Lol but chevy block is always stamped but if u are not experienced, so 483 is a 350 block bor 30 over equal 383, 305 block bor 30 over 355,u can Google the block stamp numbers and u will get answer. Hope this helps. I've owned 15 Malibu and my 78 nova, I was in prime with no kids and bought 86 Monte Carlos ss pearl white and the turbo t type before turbo was cool. An had them both til 2005. I hate myself for selling but I became a boy mom at 30 and he grew up full roll cage lol hot in Florida but daily hahaha keep it in amazing condition. Mine is in garage and it only needs passenger floor pan but actually drove it from car shows in Orlando on turnpike 112 miles WITH ac bumping and the radio really yea bc I had my 2012 Tahoe following me WITH my xm radio and I kept her at 70 mph not one problem, so scored never been twisted or shuffle yet! I'm hoping to put her on bumper!!!

What is the 5th character of your VIN? That's the engine code. Jim
