What I was asking is if my fuel tank says empty and just reached it how many gallons will I have to get to a gas station that's not a hard question

Probably about 2 gallons once the gauge hits empty. It is best not to run it that low as you may ruin the fuel pump.

My 1999 Nissan pathfinder 6 cylinder averages less then two hundred miles per tank of gas. It should hold 21 gallons, yet when It is on empty and I fill, it only takes between 16 or 17 gallons. Why
