Took out catalytic converter and now getting bad gas mileage

Getting really bad mileage.  Took out catalytic converter.  What could be
causing that?

The O2 sensors control the fuel mixture. Without the cat your car will not run correctly. Put the cat back in.

Is there anything I can do? Should I put back in the catalytic converter or new oxygen sensors? Thanks for your help
