I have a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero...The turn signals sometimes just stop working. I thought it might be a fuse, changed it, but when they go out, my 4 ways still work. So I think it might be the grounding wire? Is this a simple fix?

If it was a bad ground wire, the hazard warning lights would not work. I think it's a dirty multifunction switch on the steering column. You can find cleaning and replacment instructions on GAOwnersClub.com

The hazard lights on the 1999-2004 GM cars are wired seperately from the turn signals. So you could have a bad ground on the Turn signals and still have hazard lights. Also you could have bad Hazard switch and that would cause the turn signals to function erratically. There is also a module that is common to all the functions that are connected through the steering wheel that can develop a bad ground. It is the hazard button/flasher module. Had the same issue on my ‘01 Alero GLS 3400. Changed the hazard button/flasher module in the dash & it cleared the periodically non-working turn signal issues right up. Hasn’t given me any more issues at all!
