You want to REBUILD the starter?!!! amazing- i admire your plucky spirit, but things are not done that way anymore- you are about 50 years too late-

Excellent a person who can think! AND wants to do.. I do them for vintage vehicles once in awhile so easy too. bearings can be had from any major bearing house or online. Mic them or record the numbers from the side of race, next most common need is the drive mechanism OLD GUYS call them a starter Bendix, one of the original manufactures, there available also. many brushes can simply be dressed (file) no need to replace, ONCE again there available. jameblues I hear you! today you can buy a remanufactured junk starter for $150-350 lets not forget those Euro autos... and that's what the sheep do..
