Technician A says resistance of a pickup coil should never be tested. Technician B checks for AC voltage from the pickup coil when cranking the engine. Which technician is correct?

I would think technician B is more correct. Checking the resistance is a quick check for shorted or open, but will not detect a few shorted turns of the coil of wire in the part. Measuring the actual a/c generated by the coil would be better. This would be a great place to use an oscilloscope to actually.look at the waveform.
