Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I former car dealer tells me there was a head gasket issue with the Northstar V8's back in the mid to late 90's in the Caddiliacs. I was just wondering if anyone knows of any issues like that on the 2004-2005 Bonneville GXP's.

Yes,at somepoint in the early service of a new northstar engine,a cadillac master mechanic told me that after 5000 miles retorquing of the head bolts, was necessary to prolong the lift of the headgaskets.I have heard of many complaints from northstar owners, and of one 1994 sts northstar that I owned myself back in 1999.
