I have had this happen before in a 2001 Toyota Highlander. All I did was made sure the key was in the idle position and I wiggled it around and kept turning the key back and forth a few times. It worked for me. Hope it helps.

I had this happen to my grand Am and it had done it several times before it finally just would let it out. It urn out that their ignition switch (Pontiac) where prone to fail. it seem liked the battery would always be dead and that's what the first two shops said. they charged it and it was fine for a bit and it would die again the next following week and finally i took it and the third shop tracked it to the ignition and he replaced it and no more problems. hope this helps you.
If you have automatic door locks that engage when you extract the key, it may have to do with that security feature. On ours, when we pushed the lock down after it had popped up, we were able to remove the key.

my key on my pontiac 07 wouldnt come out this is the first time it ever happened .I tried wiggling the key, unlocking and locking the doors my battery was fine all i did to get mine to come out was start my car and put it into gear then put it back into park and shut it off the key cam fright out.
It is because it's cold! Whenever it gets cold, my key gets stuck. You just have to keep your car running for a while. Weird problem lol.
My key gets stuck when it is really cold out. I turn car on and push into park with string force. Turn car off and take out.
