How can I stop my hood latch from activating on it's own?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The trunk latch activates on it's own after turning vehicle off.
It also does it sometimes when you close the passenger door.
Seems to be an electronic issue.

Sounds like a problem with the BCM (body control module) acting up. A simple solution and less expensive fix would be to disconnect the wiring harness at the trunk latch motor which will not allow it to pop itself open.

Sounds more like a loose connection or a bad/cracked solder joint in a PC board. I'd drag the dealer into this only because if this is a partial system failure, who knows what else might go next. If it only occurred when the door was closed, I'd believe it was a loose connection only, but turning off the vehicle and having it happen may be a voltage spike, and that does point to a board problem.
