Why dose my check engine light come on
when my gas gets on empty is that normal

Code PO455 or PO461 (if you've had it checked) mean fuel level sensor fault. May be as simple as repositioning the fuel vapor line, or may be the sensor itself. When the fuel tank is low, fuel vapor may get into the fuel line causing the check engine light to come on. Assuming it goes off after fueling, just don't let it get that low.

Scan it and know! EVAP code? who knows... Have it read for codes, even if the check engine light is NOT on the computer will have stored information and codes. Discount auto stores will read codes for no fee. write them down.
