How do you remove the headlight assembly to replace the bulb?

I know about the vertical locking slide and the assembly locating pin that is toward the
outboard side of each assembly, (left & right).  Raising the slide loosens the assembly,
but pressing on it from behind does not seem to be effective in gettng it to push out.
