Does crank position sensor control fuel pump?

no, the CKP sensor does not control the fuel pump - just tells (as well as cam sensor) when the fuel injectors need to inject fuel into the intake. The fuel pump has a relay and fuse - when the key is turned on, the pump should run for approx 5 to 8 seconds then stop, when the key is turned to the 'run/start' position, the fuel pump will continue to run.
I have a pontiac sunfire 1997 out of nowhere it wouldn't start. I replaced the ignition switch and now I have power to everything where as when this happened I lost all power to my dash and lights. I replaced the fuel pump thinking it might be that. I then tried the reset for the ignition where you turn the car on leave it for ten minutes then shut it off repeat twice and then try and start never worked and I've tried as many as possible. Help please
