how do I fix my drivers side window that is off track?

Asked by lolo Apr 29, 2007 at 12:08 PM about the 1996 Ford Taurus GL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My window on the drivers side will not go all the way up. It is stuck about mid way and I want to know how I can fix it without having to pay some dealer a ridiculous price to fix it. Can you help me with this problem?

Well, either the window has fallen off the track and just needs to be placed back on the or the power window motor is done. Either way you are going to have to remove the door panel, there are screws located all around the door, just remove the screws and door panel should pop off. You should be able to tell if its the motor or the track without doing so though. When you hit the switch to put the window up do you hear anything or does anything move at all inside the door?
