Question type: General

Heating not working on a Pontiac Vibe 2003. Cut
off hoses under hood as shown in picture.
Stuggling to find a schematic of what these hoses
are or used for. Could this be the cause? Baught
the car in Miami where perhaps heating is not an
issue. Have driven over 15k in miles with
consistent engine temp so probably not the
thermostat? Any help would be greatly appreciated
have been driving in Colorado and ice forming on
exterior of windscreen while driving sucks :)

Heater core is most likely bad and leaking. Check YouTube to see how hard to replace

Those 2 hose go to the heater core, that's the reason the heater doesn't work. The only problem is that normally when people do that is because the heater core was leaking inside the cab. You will have to replace it before you re- connect the hoses.

Cheers! Riddle solved, seems a bypass of the heater core was performed with hose clamps. Two new hoses, heater core and extensive labour required. Wish people would be honest when selling vehicles.
