Where is the high pitch squeel?

Asked by Matt Mar 03, 2017 at 06:47 PM about the 2002 Pontiac Aztek STD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently purchased this vehicle and there is a high pitch squeal while
accelerating past 20mph. When I take my foot off the pedal, the squeal stops.
The power steering fluid appears adequate. Not sure if this helps, but a part
of the dash as well as the radio display don't light up either. I love this car, just
the sound is killing me. Thanks

The squeal would be coming from the serpentine belt. You would have some bad idler pulleys, a bad belt tensioner, or a bad water pump. All these things need to be checked when the belt is off. Going to need a new belt also.
