2002 Pontiac Firebird Transam Ram air 5.7 Engine

Asked by Serpico327 Sep 15, 2012 at 04:34 PM about the 2002 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I went through a fairly up to my doors water puddle and my engine began to knock and miss all at the same time. It sounds to me as if I blew a rod or could water have intered the compression chamber?

yes if the water was up to the air intake, the water could have been sucked into the engine

seems like water intrusion.. if you want to try to get it out label all sparkplug boots according to the cylinder #. find a way to shut down the ignition module & take off the fuel pump fuse. take out all plugs and crank a bit to toss out any water.. replace sparkplugs & change the oil and see if there is any problems running. good luck

How deep was the water? Your description is vague. Was it at the bottom of the door or was it halfway up the door?
