fast idle and not wanting to shift

have a fast idle sometimes and it does not want to shift out of first unless u let off gas

check your mass airflow sensor..i recently put a intake on mine and forgot to plug it back in and my car was idleing high, fan running overtime and when it did shift it was shifting hard, if not that it may be a broken 2nd gear band in the transmission i had the exact same problem with a old explorer i had
