2001 Aztek coolant reservoir

Asked by GuruDT9XJT Jun 09, 2024 at 09:39 AM about the 2001 Pontiac Aztek GT AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2001 Aztek GT. Radiator replaced two months ago due to a leak. Coolant
reservoir is still going down. I have to fill it about once a week. The oil looks fine
and I don't notice any white smoke from the exhaust. Any ideas. Help!

That still doesn't rule out a head problem, a crack can and will happen anywhere in the head. You need someone that knows what they are doing to diagnose it right.

That thing's probably got a foot in the grave , I'd start saving and looking for something else

The 3.4L V6 is notorious for blown head gaskets. Pressure test the cooling system with the engine cold. Look for visible leaks. The system should hold pressure for at least 15 minutes. If not, and you don't see anything leaking, start the engine. If the needle on the pressure tester gauge bounces, the head gasket is blown. Jim
