2001 pontiac aztek

Asked by Andrew Oct 14, 2017 at 01:29 PM about the 2001 Pontiac Aztek STD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 pontiac aztek that the temp gauge
on dash has not worked for a year but the vehicle
temp was always good. Recently the hot coolant
temp alert light is going off but the car itself still
seems to be cool. Any ideas?

Is your coolant full and void of air bubbles? Holding pressure? Are your fans working? When was the last time the thermostat was changed? How old is the coolant? All preliminary checks

The coolant is full the reserve tank was not over filled before the light started but when i went to check the tank it was spilling out the top.

If you are seeing bubbles in the reservoir tank while running then you could have a blown head gasket

No, I just looked them up on 3 different sites and they all had different part numbers for each radiator and vehicle.
