Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi i have a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville with the 3.8 series2
motor. Im have a problem with starting. When the motor is
cold the car wont start unless i give it gas. Ive checked the
map and, mass airflow sensors, cleaned the entire throttle
body and iac valve all seems to be working fine. I also have
no codes. The  motor has 214660 miles on it has new
plugs and wires too.

How long has it been since the coolant temp senor hs been replaced? Do you have a way of looking at live data on scan tool to look at the degrees before you start ot when the engine is cold, this might give you direction.. if the the sensor is lying giving pcm a bogus number its going to change pulse width far too long and your going to have to give it more air.. just a theory

the coolant sensor hasn't been changed that I know of. But the coolant temp gauge works fine. Im going to replace the iac valve. Their pretty cheap so ill see what goes on from their. Thanks
