1996 Ford Thunderbird

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Turn signals and hazards aren't working. Checked the fuses, ok. Checked the flasher relay. There was a box plugged into the harness but I ran the numbers on it and it came back as "daytime running lights for a 1998 Ford Taurus". So went to O'reilly's and bought a flasher relay for a '96 Thunderbird. It's shorter and says flasher across it. Plugged it in and the hazard lights worked fine but the turn signals don't work at all. Is it a safe assumption that the actual turn signal lever on the steering column needs to be replaced? Am I missing anything else? Thanks for any advice...

Had the very same problem with mine. If you know for sure the relay you bought will work, then i would suggest disconnecting the switch and seeing if you have a short at the connections. If everything looks to be intact, check the bulbs. Those are the only parts to that system. Your turn signals and hazards are in the same relay (unless yours is in the fuse box under the dash).
