Question regarding transmission 96 T-Bird LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Tranny always shifted a little hard, especially when cold.
Recently started to feel as if tranny downshifts whenever I let off gas (especially on
hwy).
Pulled tranny pan, replaced filter and fluid (fluid looked good and did not smell bad) and
cast eyeball upon tranny interior.
Tranny interior looks mint. Did not see any issues with linkage or u-joints.
After fluid change, still experienced downshift when I let off gas.
Two days later the issue went away.
Knocking on wood; problem solved?
Still curious why it was doing this in case condition returns.
Sound familiar anyone?
Thank you.

I did the ole smoke check looking for vacuum leak, but only under the hood. Is there anywhere else to check, such as on or near tranny? Don't think I saw anything vacuum related at the tranny it self... Thank you for your reply T_S_T Did you happen to see my dash light question?

I think this has a vacuum control on the transmission. One of my Birds has this problem upshifting. All I have to do is let off the gas and step down and it shifts. Being handicapped, I just put up with it but it is an easy replacement if I could get under the car.

Im seeing a mechanic tomorrow who's gonne see if there are any tranny codes. Hopefully we'll find a code so we don't have to dig deeper...
