Is there a way to know if a t-bird came with power steering since the data plate which tells of engine, color, manufacturer etc. doesn't include whether or not it had orginal power steering?

I have a newer 3000lb ultralight travel trailer. I seriously want to purchase a 1969 thunderbird coupe and set it up to haul. I understand the tbird has a 5000lb capacity, but my mechanic friend is saying something about the compression with today's gas likely to destroy the engine? Any input? thanks, Tom 1 Answer
