I put in a new headlight motor but the won't open at the same time one goes up when the other goes down

Headlight motor replaced wouldn't open.installed new motor but when one opens the
other closes I tried unplugging it while the other was in the open position,checked the
linkage nothing changes. 2000 Pontiac firebird trans am

Swap the wire,s to motor,there backward,s.
