Where is the thermostate?

Hi... Have a 99 sunfire 2.2. Car is in very good shape. I am trying to learn how to look after the little things myself. Car started overheating. Stopped on side of road,cooled down enough to move a 2 -3 km. Fairly quick. Newer waterpump, water in rad. no heat inside car. Figure thermostate is stuck........ HELP?

whatever temp the engine is is the temperature that should b blowing from ur vents the thermostat is designed to warm ur engine quickly and maintain its temp for fuel efficiency and driver comfort. if there is no hot air in ur car and the engine is overheating sounds like the water pump isnt pumping or there is a HUGE air pocket in your cooling system. your thermostat being stuck closed WOULD overheat your car but also cook you out with the heat on...
