Car slow to accelerate

Asked by formablegrain Jun 17, 2017 at 08:58 PM about the 1999 Pontiac Sunfire 4 Dr SE Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I step on the gas the car seems clogged
doesn't get up to speed properly sticks around 30
mph, rpms aren't increasing either. Actually had it
to the floor and it wouldn't go any higher than 30
mph. Car is running hotter as well. Recently had an
oil change done, flex pipe replaced and a new
water pump put in. Any ideas?? Thanks for your
time.

Go to an Auto Zone and let them scan for a code to confirm this or another problem. They do it for you for free. Or do it at another shop and u will pay for the diagnostic analysis

Believe it or not, a bad injector CAN put the car in limp mode if emissions go off the chart

If it is the catalytic converter.....turn the car on and then go by the exhaust pipe.....do u have flow or not?? If not...yes it is possible it could be a 'clogged' catalytic convertor
