A friend of mine unhooked my lights, but they still go up and down, but make the grinding sound that everyone else has indicated. I'm wondering whether I need all new motors or lift motor gear?

Question type: General

Trying to determine whether I just need headlamp motor gear for headlights or all new motors?  Friend of mine unhooked something on the lights so they still go up and down, but make a terrible grinding noise when I turn them off and also when I hit alarm button.  Anyone know what I may be dealing with and what I should possibly do?

If they are available, I would replace the motors. The motor kits work to restore internal parts but if you don't know about other parts in the motor and you can afford the new motors, I would swap them out.

Just so you know, I am a woman and not too familiar with vehicle mechanics. My next door neighbor is a mechanic so, I'm going to consult with him. Thank you for your reply.
