Any ideas on why my car shut down and wont start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving the car and the dash cluster went blank it was still running fine then I got about a mile down the road and she died. I have power everywhere else in the car lights radio and all dash will light up with the headlights. I have remote locks and hatch but do not have alarm as far as I know. I did hit some puddles because of all the snow melting here in OH. Could it be the starter I've done the basic checks on it without getting under her. I just don't know where to start. I am open to all help. Thanks 1997 Firebird 3.8 111000 miles
