Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a 1997 Pontiac Firebird that was sitting
for 3 years I put a new battery in there in a fuel
filter it starts up fine idle is good but when I put it
in Drive if I press gas slow and slide it very smooth
it will go fine but when I am trying to accelerate
very fast it will buckle and go very slow and start
picking up speed as I press gas what can be the
problem

Clean carburetor with a can of spray carburetor cleaner use the whole can and also add carb cleaner to gas tank.

Yeah what Tom said I would say drain the fuel tank and also change the fuel filter again and see what happens I would say also use seafoam and other cleaning fuel additives.
