Car wont start with key

I have a 92 pontiac firebird I've changed the ignition switch
and had new Keys made. The locksmith guy was able to
crank it with his lock craft decoder box but dosent start
with actual key....Anyone know what might be wrong ?

GM sells a bypass harness you can easily install provided you want to disable the VATS system. They are about $20 and installs at the steering column under the dash. Contact a parts supplier and they can order one for you if that is the way you want to go.
Or you could buy the harness that defeats the Vats system and bypass it for $20 that sounds like a great idea and then if you do that then you could probably install your own aftermarket alarm system get the same features that the vats system offered you that's an option too but like Jim says you might just want to get the right key from the dealership coded and then you'll be back in business unless the Vats system is causing additional problems I don't know?
I have the right key made for cut buy the dealer which is a number 3 key
