Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi there! I own a 1992 Pontiac firebird and I have a few small problems. One
regarding the radio. We the power button is pressed and the key is in the
ignition the radio will turn on most of the time. However, when the power
button is turned off the radio turns on but not on. So then I have to turn the
car off, press the power button on and switch it back on for it to work. I have
checked a few things like the power supply and the fusebox for the radio.
The power supply is in working order as far as I am concerned, but in the
fusebox, one of the fuses is missing as well as the metal holding it with
cables. In the attached files I have put the diagram. Number 14, as well as
number 19, are for the radio. However, the 14th is fine and the 19th is
missing. Does anyone have a clue if this has to do anything with the radio
and if so or not does anyone have confirmation that the 19th fuse has to be
or does not have to be there. I would be glad to hear from any of you again.

You have 2 power supplies going to the radio. One is switched by the ignition switch. The other is hot or live all the time to maintain the clock and channel presets even when the ignition is off. The missing fuse is probably for an option you don't have. Since your power is good at the radio I'd suspect the problem is with the radio itself. You can send it out to be repaired or replace it with a good used one. Hope that helps! Jim

Hi all. I'm first of all very thankful for the support really helps! I've done some more research into Delco radio's and have come to the conclusion that it is indeed a problem that has been occurred before. With some advice and instruction, I have found another forum that follows exact steps in order to sort out the problem. Thanks a lot guys, I will try and give an update once it is done for people in the near future who have the same problem. Stay safe. Fabian
