This morning was -10 after yesterday
being-21. My car sat for one day
without running. I went to start it this
morning and it cranked several times
then finally started. I heard something
funny and went back out side after
several min of it running and it was
running really rough and all the lights
on the dash we're on. Please help!!

So I started the car again last night in hopes that everything would be fine... I still had all the light on the dash on and it started very rough but idiled nicely. Low in rmps though... I had to move it from where it was and so I put it in reverse. It moved like normal. Then went to drive forward, The rmps stayed the same no matter how hard I push the accelerator. Went to reverse again and then nothing backwards either. I finally got it to move under it's own power but at a snail's pace! I shut the car off... Could it be the turbo? Bad gas? I don't have a code reader and I live in the boonies. I don't want to pay a fortune to get it to a shop to get it looked at if I can do something at home.

sounds like it's in safe mode , the computer lets you drive it (barely) but something is wrong and it should be taken care of , if you don't want to spend a fortune then maybe you can spend under $100** on a OBD scanner , if you plan on doing your own work there are tools you will need , education is free certification cost money , , newer cars are loaded with technology and that's all there is to it ,
That is very true! I have a friend coming over today with a scan machine. Just hope it will read the codes... I'm afraid I'm gonna have to break down and get it towed to the VW place I got it from... Ugh there goes at least 1000$!! Just spent 1000$ on it for winter tires. This is my 4 VW. I love the cars but they r a bitch to fix. Thanks for the help.
