Asked by Veenomarine Jan 24, 2016 at 02:25 AM about the 2004 Porsche Cayenne AWD

Question type: General

I have a 04 Porsche Cayenne with the regular CD
player, I was going to purchase a factory CD player
with the Gps screen but I'm not sure if it will fit/wire
to it correctly.. Has anyone ever done it?

I haven't done this on a Cayenne, but I have on a 996 and a Mercedes. It's not a straightforward plug and play. You need to change the fascia, probably install a GPS antenna and fiber wiring and then get the car re-coded by Porsche to accept the new radio headunit. Also it's likely you can only use the earlier CD based headunits in your model year unless you did some significant amount of rewiring. For the amount of cost and work, its probably cheaper to sell your car and buy another with GPS installed already.
