Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My '98 Saab 900 has a strong vibration when at idle which gets worse when a
gear is selected....as when in D at idle the vibration is bad enough that l must
move into Neutral to minimize the vibe. What might be the problem?

If its automatic, have your torque converter checked, if it's a manual, it could be your clutch assembly is worn or maybe the output bearings in the transmission.

Thanks, l will have the torque converter checked.....is that something that can be diagnosed w/o pulling the gearbox (transaxle?) ?
